Careers Curriculum

Year 7: In Year 7, students begin their careers journey with a focus on self-discovery. They explore their strengths, interests, and skills and learn about different career roles and pathways. Activities include the 'Careers Journey Lift Off!' and 'Who am I, Where am I Going?' mission. They also use the Xello platform to learn about Labour Market Information (LMI) and create a Careers dream board. Students attend the Year 9 LMI Careers Fair.

Year 8: Building on Year 7, students in Year 8 delve deeper into LMI and challenge stereotypes. They participate in the 'The Force Be With You' mission, learn about different sectors of work through activities like 'Innovation & Enterprise - Dragon's Den', and explore voluntary work and charities. They also attend the Careers Fair to learn about different careers and education/training providers.

Year 9: Year 9 focuses on making informed decisions about GCSE options. Students participate in the 'Your Voice, Your Say' mission, research labour market trends, and deliver their own Careers Fair. They also explore post-16 options, including apprenticeships and higher education.

Year 10: In Year 10, students prepare for real-world work experiences. They participate in the 'Room 101' mission, undertake work experience placements, and use Unifrog to explore their personality styles and study skills. They also attend college assemblies and taster days and have access to independent careers advisors.

Year 11: The focus in Year 11 is on the transition to further education. Students refine their CVs, complete college applications and practice interview techniques. They also use Unifrog to explore work values and workplace skills and attend assemblies focused on apprenticeships and higher education. All students have access to careers advisor sessions.
