Bus and Transport Information
Getting to Shevington High School
Shevington High School students travel from various locations across the borough. Our students join us in Year 7 from more than 20 different feeder primary school. We admit students from different areas from across Wigan and Lancashire. Many students use buses as their main form of travel and we have a number of bus services the arrive and depart at our school turning circle.
As a parent it can be a daunting prospect as your child may have to travel further to school and may make this journey independently for the first time. We have enclosed our current popular travel routes, including information about our Orrell/Upholland bus services.
In addition the following websites are extremely useful when considering your child’s journey to high school.

Our site
Whilst many of our students travel by bus and we encourage students to use sustainable transport as much as possible. To support this we have secure bike storage for up to 60 cycles available and employ our own crossing patrol person as part of our school travel plan.
Parents are welcome to drop off their children near school by car, however access to site is not permitted during peak periods. For safety reasons, we ask parents to park a safe distance from school to minimise disruption to our neighbours and the main roads adjacent to school. There is also a park and stride point at the Charnley Arms where parents can arrange to meet their child, allowing them to walk a short distance from the school, reducing traffic congestion whilst also building in a short burst of exercise.
