International Learning Links
Shevington High School is proud to be recognised as a KED Inspired School from September 2024.
Shevington High School has been working with Kunskapsskolan (KED) developing student agency over the last 9 years. The Kunskapsskolan organisation comprises a group of schools in Sweden, The Netherlands, India, USA, Saudi and the UK where developing student agency and personalised learning is a key priority. Developing student agency is all about promoting a style of learning which has the learner at the centre of all that takes place. This student centred, highly personalised approach to education has been pioneered by Kunskapsskolan in Sweden. As a KED inspired school, Shevington High School has been fortunate to visit a number of different KED school internationally and learn from their approaches. We have then adapted these approaches to suit the ethos and aspirations of our school community.
At Shevington High School, our determination to support students to become well rounded individuals with the skills to leave secondary education not only ready to take on the next stage in their education or training, but also to have developed a range of skills for life and the future that will allow them to thrive in life. You can learn more about this by visiting our SAIL Curriculum area of the website.
Working with schools internationally as well as those within the UK provides a unique opportunity for teachers and leaders to think about education beyond the realms of the UK education system, challenges us to explore a variety of different pedagogical approaches to learning in its widest sense and to network with students, teachers and leaders across the world. This has allowed both teachers and students to engage in some unique opportunities. We are working towards the International Schools Award in the next year as we continue to embrace these opportunities.
In January 2026, we were proud to host the KED Network Conference at our school. Nearly 60 leaders and educational experts from a range of different countries started the conference by visiting our school, hearing our staff and head students speaking about our KED inspired journey and taking a tour of the school.

School Exchanges and Visits
In the Spring Term of 2026, we will be developing our partnership with our link school in Borås, Sweden. Last year, Year 9 students worked remotely on a shared missing with students in this school. They completed a cookery project, using their spanish speaking skills to communicate whilst sharing traditional recipes for meals popular in their home country.
This year, a group of Year 10 students will be embarking on the first of our exchanges with students at this school. Firstly a group of students will visit our school and then we will make the return journey to sample the educational experience in Sweden.
As part of our work as a KED Inspired School, we were also very fortunate to be invited to go to India in 2024 to take part in the KED MUN, Model United Nations Conference. This is is just an example of one of the amazing learning enrichment opportunities that has developed out of our connections as a KED Inspired School.
