Key Stage 3

  • Rationale: Homework is an integral part of learning, reinforcing classroom knowledge and promoting good study habits. It is designed to be effective and manageable, supporting student progress.
  • Outline:
    • Tasks: Varied tasks such as knowledge organiser retrieval practice, online revision, reading, comprehension, and extended writing projects.
    • Frequency: 30 minutes per week in English, Maths & Science.  All other subjects will be 15 minutes per week.
    • Setting and Monitoring: Homework is set and monitored by each subject teacher.

Key Stage 4 

  • Rationale: Homework supports the transition to GCSEs, focusing on revision, knowledge retrieval, and independent study skills. It aims to build confidence and prepare students for exams.
  • Outline:
    • Homework Overview: Provided at the start of each half term, outlining the types of tasks, assessment methods, and support resources.
    • Tasks and Frequency:
      • Core Subjects (English, Maths, Science): 1 hour per week.
      • Optional Subjects: 30 minutes per week.
    • Independent Revision: Students are encouraged to create a homework/revision timetable, dedicating five hours per week to independent study.
