Headteachers Update - Ofsted 2026
Dear Parents and Carers,
I am delighted to share with you the outcome of our recent Ofsted inspection and attach a copy of the final report.
The report recognises Shevington High School as a school with significant strengths. Inspectors judged the school to be operating at a Strong Standard for Inclusion, Leadership and Governance, and Personal Development and Wellbeing. This means that leaders are ‘working above the standard expected of them’. OFSTED also confirmed that all other areas meet the expected national standard. Safeguarding was also found to be fully effective.
While we are proud of these outcomes, what pleased me most was the way inspectors described our school community.
Inspectors found that:
"Parents are proud to send their children to Shevington."
As Headteacher, there are few comments that could mean more. We are privileged to work in partnership with families and we greatly value the trust that parents place in us every day.
Inspectors also found that:
"Pupils delight in being part of this vibrant community."
This reflects the positive culture that our pupils help to create each day through their kindness, ambition and commitment to one another.
The report highlights the inclusive culture that sits at the heart of the school, stating:
"Leaders, staff and pupils share the view that Shevington includes everyone. This ethos runs through every strand of school life."
We are proud to be a school where every child is known, valued and supported to succeed.
Inspectors also recognised the ambition that underpins our work. They found that:
"Leaders and governors share a highly ambitious vision for all pupils."
They also noted that:
"Leaders at Shevington High School are brave in the unique decisions they take."
We were particularly pleased that inspectors recognised the opportunities we provide through our personal development programme, international partnerships and digital strategy, which help to broaden pupils' horizons and prepare them for successful futures.
This report reflects the hard work and dedication of our staff, the support of our governors, the trust of our families and, above all, the achievements and character of our pupils. It recognises a school that is ambitious for every child and committed to continual improvement.
While we are proud of what has been recognised in this report, we remain focused on the future. The report identifies areas where we can continue to strengthen our work and we welcome this feedback as we continue our journey of improvement.
I would like to thank our pupils, staff, governors and families for the contribution each has made to this success. We are proud of what we have achieved together and excited about what comes next.
Thank you for your continued support.
Yours faithfully,
Mr J Bennett
