Photography Curriculum Intent
The Photography curriculum is designed to offer a learning experience that is both broad and balanced, encouraging students to explore and develop their visual literacy and creative potential. Students will be empowered to experiment with a range of photographic techniques and technologies, fostering their ability to capture and communicate ideas, emotions, and stories through the lens.
Through practical, project-based learning, students will:
- Develop technical skills: Master the fundamentals of photography, including exposure, composition, and focus.
- Explore creative expression: Experiment with different photographic styles, genres, and perspectives.
- Understand visual language: Analyse and interpret images, recognising the power of visual communication.
- Develop critical thinking: Evaluate their own work and the work of others, refining their artistic judgment.
- Engage with the world: Use photography to document, explore, and respond to their surroundings.
- Collaborate and share: Work with peers and share their work with a wider audience.
By studying photography, students will gain a deep appreciation for the art form and its potential to inspire, inform, and challenge. They will develop the skills and knowledge to become confident and creative photographers, ready to pursue their passions and contribute to the visual culture of the future.
