Design Technology Curriculum Intent

The aim of the Design Technology & Hospitality department is to provide students with the opportunity to develop a broad range of theoretical, practical skills and knowledge across both technology & food. We want students to develop a wide range of skills that will support them in their professional and personal lives. 

As a department, we want to instil a love for the subject and an understanding of the broad range of careers available to them. We want students to understand how to problem solve, build resilience and learn from mistakes as well as developing a wide range of practical skills. 

We aim to provide a safe and supportive learning environment which encourages children to think in new ways, be creative and realise that “life is what you make it."

Lessons

Y7-9: Design Technology and Food are delivered via two 10 weeks rotations in each year. 2 hours per fortnight during each rotation.

GCSE Options - Design Technology and 3D Design

Y10-11: 5 hours per fortnight
